ymc226 Posted April 22, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know Fotos has been around for a while but never used it and it has gone through several versions. Right now, using the latest app last night (3.3.6), I added my cameras. The app connected right away to both cameras using my iPhone 11 Pro via wifi. I set geolocation to "always on" in the iPhone Fotos app and allowed Fotos access to the iPhone Photos app. However, I have in the past turned off the allow location to be recorded when taking a picture with my iPhone under the privacy settings on the phone. Both my cameras are set to DNG only (no JPEG) and record to SD and INT (internal memory). I may or may not use the Visoflex 2 with each. Some questions: When I connect to the camera, all the photos on the SD card show up on the Fotos app. Are each of these files then transferred to my iPhone permanently? When checking again with the Fotos app, under the Leica Gallery" function with neither camera on or connected, no photos show up. When the camera was connected, I was able to pick which files to share a preview (or DNG) of with others via mail or text which is convenient. Does that mean if my cameras are set to DNG only, only DNG files are saved to my phone if at all? I don't want pics taken with my iPhone to contain location information as I do post pics on several forums. However, if the setting is turned off for iPhone Photos, can I still use the geolocation function of Leica Fotos when connected to my M cameras? Advertisement Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Hi ymc226, Take a look here Fotos app: what exactly does it do? Using with M11 and M11 mono both 1.6.1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Cavu Posted May 22, 2023 Share #2 Posted May 22, 2023 I connected to my M11 with Leica FOTOS app. When connected you are correct that you see the images from your SD card. To download the images to your phone just tap the boxed check mark on the upper right side of the phone display. You can then choose which images to download and in what format, DNG or Preview. I only shoot in DNG and therefore don’t get a JPEG choice. Regarding geolocation look on the info bar on the Live View screen of your camera. You’ll see in the middle of the info bar the wifi fan and next to it a bubble pointing down. The bubble indicates geolocation and an indicator of its accuracy. You can find more details in the User’s Manual. My own experience with geolocation has been my phone disconnects from the camera when walking about. I choose not to connect the camera to my phone with the cable. Hope this helps.
