To me it seems clear what I am doing when I erase or reformat any memory on my M11 or M11M. Yes, we all make mistakes and sorry you did. Or did your camera do something you did not ask it to do? Well, formatting the storage with images on it would indeed be a strange thing to do. In my case it was a combination of muscle memory of performing a delete operation and confirming it, the fact that "Delete all" is located just below "Delete single" and the fact that this is my first digital Leica. Advertisement Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Hi neonvoid, Take a look here Recover files from internal storage on M11. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
algrove Posted April 22, 2023 Share #22 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) No lessons here. OK so the OP did not mention he was deleting files from the playback menu so how could I know that? Now, after rereading his first note he was in fact deleting from the internal memory. Edited April 22, 2023 by algrove

It's of course completely my fault, but it's also a bad design of the menu, which can have disastrous affects on first-time users.
neonvoid Posted April 22, 2023 Author Share #24 Posted April 22, 2023 @fenykepesz @dugby Thanks for the valuable info, I hope it can be useful for whoever happens to read this thread in the future. Meanwhile that M11 was replaced with a new one because of a vertically misaligned rangefinder patch, so the files are gone for good.
fenykepesz Posted April 22, 2023 Share #25 Posted April 22, 2023 ooops, what a pity, sorry to hear ! at least you got hold of a new 'impeccable' M11 body ! although it will never replace your photos and sujets, as priceless, timeless and unique as they came at times : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ...
