One minute the rabbit is calm, the next it's gone berserk and is attacking a young boy. What's the world coming to?

But seriously, can somebody tell me what rabbits have to do with Easter?

Can't see the second pic, unfortunately, most likely due to some settings at this end.

Bunnies - well originally they were hares rather than rabbits.

According to some sources, the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” or “Oschter Haws.” Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs.

Probably doesn't help much! :)

Thanks, Graham. That explains the colored eggs but I still wonder what is the connection to what Easter is supposed to be about.

I can't see the second photo, either. I tried to edit and repost it, but at me end the same photo kept appearing twice. I finally got one to stay deleted and everything looked fine last night. This morning it has gone away. Sigh.

Here it is again.

TIME has sort of come to the rescue, via Google. Here's what they say;

"The exact origins of the Easter bunny are clouded in mystery. One theory is that the symbol of the rabbit stems from pagan tradition, specifically the festival of Eostre—a goddess of fertility whose animal symbol was a bunny. Rabbits, known for their energetic breeding, have traditionally symbolized fertility."

I still have no idea how this relates to the Christian celebration of Easter.
