fotografr Posted April 10, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) One minute the rabbit is calm, the next it's gone berserk and is attacking a young boy. What's the world coming to? But seriously, can somebody tell me what rabbits have to do with Easter? M10M/50 APO Skopar Welcome, dear visitor! Graham (G4FUJ) Posted April 10, 2023 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2023 Can't see the second pic, unfortunately, most likely due to some settings at this end. Bunnies - well originally they were hares rather than rabbits. According to some sources, the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” or “Oschter Haws.” Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs. Probably doesn't help much!

I tried to edit and repost it, but at me end the same photo kept appearing twice. I finally got one to stay deleted and everything looked fine last night. This morning it has gone away. Sigh. Here it is again. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! fotografr Posted April 10, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted April 10, 2023 (edited) TIME has sort of come to the rescue, via Google. Here's what they say; "The exact origins of the Easter bunny are clouded in mystery. One theory is that the symbol of the rabbit stems from pagan tradition, specifically the festival of Eostre—a goddess of fertility whose animal symbol was a bunny. Rabbits, known for their energetic breeding, have traditionally symbolized fertility." I still have no idea how this relates to the Christian celebration of Easter.
