MarkP Posted April 9, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an old 28 min silver SLOOZ in excellent condition, except for hazing of internal elements. It is still quite useable but it annoys me no end - OCD 🙄. does anyone know whether there is any way they can be opened and cleaned? The local Leica service technician advised me it wasn’t possible and I suspect this is the case Edited April 9, 2023 by MarkP

pgk Posted April 9, 2023 Share #3 Posted April 9, 2023 Malcolm Taylor has repaired viewfinders for me so it is possible. However, if it works reasonably I'd just use it. If it gets bad enough to absolutely require repair then its worth tallking to technicians to see who will tackle it. Personally if I had a viewfinder which was unusable I'd give it a go myself...... its worthless as is.

Agreed, but I wouldn’t even know where to start as it’s a sealed unit.

Viewfinder in cold water and then bring it gently up to near boiling. This may well soften the glue. Worth a try and I think this is what Malcolm said could work. PEDROFIZ Posted May 3, 2023 Share #6 Posted May 3, 2023 What about using alcohol (or water+alcohol) instead water?
