I know not many will be interested, but there is a near-full frame fish eye lens available for the M8. It is the Peleng 8mm f/3.5 bought on ebay. I may have some fun with this lens! Here is a non-artistic shot, ISO 160, f/4. The wide open hyperfocal distance is under 2 meters to infinity.

LLoyd,

You might want to avoid taking shots whilst walking around on stilts - you'll be prone to camera shake from that altitude :D

(yes, yes I know he's not on stilts before anyone states the obvious back to me)

Yes, it certainly appears that way. Here is the lens on the M8, it is not rangefinder coupled but it doesn't need to be. At f/4, nearly wide open, the hyperfocal distance is from one-half meter to infinity.

Am I reading the picture correctly? The lens is M42, attached to a Leica

Screw Mount adapter?

Tom Morley

Yup! The lens has two adapters to fit. It has a lens-to-M42 adapter, and screwed on to that is a M42-to-M39 Leica LTM adapter. I have a Leica LTM-to-M adapter on that adapter, for a total of three! I wanted the lens to also be compatible with my Bessa R screw mount film camera. You can get a direct M42-to-M mount adapter, if you want.

If you're gonna post that in the german forums, first comment will be:

"You seriously need to think about straightening that horizon..." :D

That was my first shot ever with that lens, and there is no auxilliary viewfinder. I will use my shoe-mount level from now on.

Llyod, that was a joke from my side - I wouldn't know how you get an even horizon with a fisheye...

Yes, I caught the humor. I will use a level from now on however to minimize perpective distortion, if such a thing can be done with this type of lens.
