Oh, a blast from the past.  Yeah, that was an issue when I was new to the M.  With the help of some comments in that thread the issue went away. Haven't suffered from fingers blocking viewfinder regardless of lens in many years.  Still have the M 262 but did upgrade the 75 Summarit to a 75 Summicron along the way.  And now I've added an M11.  It's an addiction 🙂

As mentioned by others, I also typically focus horizontally then rotate.  The one thing I'd mention is to consider adding a grip or at least a thumbs up.  The shape of the M isn't ideal for portrait, having the grip makes things much easier, AFAIC.

This question needs a separate thread.

Maybe, like all the bag threads throughout LUF, we really need a hat thread. What’s appropriate for an M vs an SL. Rainy days vs midday sun vs windy day hats. Can Billingham and Peak Design throw offerings into the ring?

And classic hats: the Cartier Bresson; the Ansel Adams; the Dorothea Lange; even the Lee Miller. I might go for the Fox Talbot.

Than Ansel Adams only comes in shades of white grey and black.

The Fox Talbot can withstand long exposures to the sun.

The Cartier Bresson is a beret - no brim so you can get closer.

The Dorothea Lange comes with a detachable dust visor.

Found in my archive from 15 years ago.   Two birds with one stone. My only excuse was that I was young and foolish

ps. This was in a time when you could buy a perfect used m6 for $600
