Advertisement Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Hi Kostia, Take a look here M8 and Sunpak flash ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ArtZ Posted November 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 4, 2007 Kostia, I use the Panasonic DMW-FL28E (intended for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1 and Digilux 2). I have the Leica SF 24D (I got it in a pack with the Digilux 2) but you cannot tilt the head and it uses only CR-123A batteries which are disposable and then not very ecological. The DMW-FL28E is not a TTL flash but it has an AUTO mode which works fine with the M8. I find better results when I shoot 1 stop higher (i.e. f/8 for f/5.6) when the flash is facing the subjet and I use the recommended settings when the light is orientated 90° Hope that helps Cheers . cme4brain Posted November 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted November 4, 2007 Hello members, I need a small flash just for fill-in. It is not so easy to find. Do you know if the Sunpak PF30X could be used with a M8 ?... Maybe compatible with an adapter ??? SUNPAKFƒTƒ“ƒpƒbƒN Thanks. Doesn't look like it. It can be fired through the X-contact, but there appears to be no external light meter for automatic flash. You have discovered the frustration we are all having with the M8 and flash. The Leica SF 24D is small, but not powerful (GN66) and has to bounce/swivel capability, not that the low GN would let you do anything with a bounce flash anyway. To get a powerfull enough flash, you need to get a much larger flash, such as the Metz 54MZ. That kinda defeats the purpose to me, which is to have a smaller camera, in that the flash is so large compated to the camera, but some have to do that for say weddings. The proper flash does not exist for the M8. I would like to see a 24D sized flash with AA batteries, GN of at least 90, bounce head.
thai.charlie Posted November 5, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 5, 2007 How about the Metz 20 C-2? It tilts but doesn't swivel. LINK
cme4brain Posted November 5, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 5, 2007 How about the Metz 20 C-2? It tilts but doesn't swivel. LINK An interesting choice but again, is a low powered flash with limited auto capability.
Kostia Posted November 5, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted November 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you all of you. What I need is a very small flash (TTL !) only for fill-in. A Leica SF 24 D could be OK but it does move its head (!), Panasonic DMW-FL28E is not TTL (but it could be interresting to try it...) Metz has a lot of big flashes, too big, except the 20 C-2 but I don't understand if it is suitable or not on the M8 Would Thai.Charlie and cme4brain explain a little bit more... because the link to the adapters http://2007.metz.de/SCA/adapter.php does'nt show nothing about it and an adapter for M8... As you understand I am a newbie in the use of flashes !... Thanks. Hope you understand my english. I habe mein Deutsch vergessen.
