Lawrence Wang Posted March 14, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I saw it somewhere, says you could send your camera back to Solms and have it repainted and its leather changed. The options are pretty much the same as what a la carte offers. The difference is you can't have your parts changed, e.g. change the whole top plate. I emailed them (customer.care) but haven't heard back yet. Just want to know if anyone has experience with this. I am eager to repaint my M7.
Advertisement Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Hi Lawrence Wang, Take a look here What customisation options are now available at Solms?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
derleicaman Posted March 14, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 14, 2023 Leica has moved back to Wetzlar, at Leitz Park since about 2014. The site in Solms is now an empty lot, with the old building being demolished. Leica never offered repainting a camera, and the M7 has been discontinued for quite some time. I think you are thinking of the old a la carte program, which only was for a new camera, not refurbishing. There are several private service people that could repaint your M7. I emailed them about this once and they replied that no, they never do any customization for individual customers, despite the fact that they obviously do - just not for all of us. Yeah that's true. I saw countless post about people sending back their M cameras to Germany and having all kinds of customisations, though probably they are all under the a la carte program. Could you give some recommendations on third party repainting service? I checked with kanto camera, sadly they don't repaint M7.

Huss Posted March 14, 2023 Share #8 Posted March 14, 2023 From what I've seen, Leica's a la carte offering right now is limited to Ms scratching film, or not scratching film. The latter is rarer and worth more in the long run.

I had one of mine done. No “à la carte”, I don’t use instagram, I am not an “influence”, just a bog standard customer.
iPacific Posted March 17, 2023 Share #10 Posted March 17, 2023 I asked if they cloud change my MA black chrome parts into sliver chrome. And the answer is YES. I email the local leica store and they cloud take care for the shipping, but it take about 6 months to do so.
