Apple has updated the Camera RAW formats supported in Leopard.

Full list here:

Digital camera RAW formats supported by Mac OS X 10.5

Leica list below:

Leica V-LUX 1

Leica DIGILUX 2

Leica DIGILUX 3

Leica D-LUX2

Leica D-LUX 3

Leica M8 Digital Camera

Most importantly both Aperture and iPhoto will natively support these formats.

Does anyone know if the Leopard RAW implementation supports the newer firmware color values? Tiger supported the M8 after a series of RAW support updates from Apple but if I recall it had the older values.

How did you know that ?.

In answer to your question, in the sample raw.plist that has been sent to me from Leopard has indeed been updated, what's more is apple have changed the matrix layouts to support both images from the pre 1.09 fw update as well as current images form 1.09 onwards with leica's revised matrix.

What's more surprising is it actually can be cut and pasted into the tiger raw.plist and be used in the same method as we've been doing.

Overall it seems a dramatic improvement in anything that's gone before with to my mind better decoding and quality to the image.

Sadly I won't have the chance over the next few days to provide information on how to do this due to the passing of my Dad this morning. When things get back on an even keel I'll post it in the Aperture resource thread.

Lich I am a bit dim. In OSX I get my RAW files opened an upload by default and so apple is applying whatever it decides to the files, which I find a bit of a pain. Is this what will happen in L or is there some way of having the files just uploaded without them being bent out of shape by iPhoto. Sorry for being rather slow.

....That kind of news definitely puts things in perspective....

Narayan, Matthew & Claude, Thank you for your words, I didn't mean to put a damper on the thread, but we (the family) are celebrating his life, comforted in the knowledge he had the most peaceful passing after 7 years of quality time we thought we would not have.

Thanks again,

Eoin
