I have a chance to get a brand new sealed in the box 11677 for $1,800 from a Leica dealer (not official Leica retailer). 

I wanted to see the character of the lens wide open. I know it’ll be Uber sharp stopped down.

I'm not sure I've ever shot the lens wide open, but at that price I'd grab it and give it a try yourself.  If you don't like it you should be able to easily sell it at zero loss.
