pascal_meheut Posted October 31, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) 1 year today (or yesterday evening) I got my M8. Here is the first picture I posted with it here, to prove I had one. I remember it made quite a fuss on the german forum where some people had a hard time believing a frog eater could have one before them

stunsworth Posted October 31, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 31, 2007 I don't see much of a magenta problem there Pascal <grin>.
marknorton Posted October 31, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 31, 2007 Yes, I received my first one on 2 November. And, nearly a year later, DHL has just picked up my Nocti and a Tri-Elmar to go back to Solms... Just think of all the things we know now we didn't know then... stephengilbert Posted October 31, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2007 No magenta, perhaps, but what are those strange artifacts on your shirt?
gesper Posted October 31, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 31, 2007 I got mine on 11 November on B&H's website. Interesting how at the time they were almost unobtainable, yet would pop up sporadically if you were quick to act.

Guest Bernd Banken Posted October 31, 2007 Share #8 Posted October 31, 2007 Pascal, I remember well the bad news after just one day of your shots. The magenta issue came to the surface and other glitches..... Cheers Bernd
bradreiman Posted October 31, 2007 Share #9 Posted October 31, 2007 i got mine in the first week. a day or two after your "magenta revelation (revolution/revulsion)" its been a fantastic tool for the year and I can't imagine the amount of time , energy and money I have saved without film, processing and scanning. I have taken exactly one frame on my m6 since while shooting a wedding with my gal Steph because I wanted to use the noctilux for a particular shot. Love the m6-hate scanning and paying a fortune for a gamble on processing. Actually I rationalized buying the m8 by calculating the cost of film and processing and a rough estimate of what my time is worth while scanning. I have added two m8s and a 28/2.8 and a cv 35/1.2 to my arsenal and still believe I have saved a heap of time, money and headaches by making the switch to digital. Thanks to everyone for helping get each other and me through this fun experience....Brad
Guest guy_mancuso Posted October 31, 2007 Share #10 Posted October 31, 2007 November 6th is when my first one mine arrived. I grew a lot of grey hair since than again maybe it was the kids. It certainly has been a adventure in many ways and glad i decided to fix it than whine about it because today it is certainly a tool that makes me look good at the end of the day. I know it's all about between the ears but having the tools needed to get it done is part of that too. i have owned almost every system out there and i really believe i came to rest on Leica's door for the rest of my shooting career because in all of the issues , SDS twice on the same body and IR filters and all the stuff we have gone through, I still believe the future is leica and there glass is the absolute best out there. i also know there is a future with them and look forward to new product that makes sense in the market and shooters hands. i know many feel like beta -testers with this product and the complaints run rapid around here but i like to look at us as explorers and discovering new things and that is what photography really is folks. It's all about discovery. Okay it could have been smoother and it could have been better but hey it is working for me and really that is all that counts is it works and does a great job in the process. Besides i like the challenge. Happy Halloween and will be on break from here to work on some big projects so enjoy it and lets hope year two brings better images and even better tools. c6gowin Posted October 31, 2007 Share #11 Posted October 31, 2007 November 6th was the day for me too. I remember well when Pascal first identified the magenta cast problem just a few days before I got my M8. I admit I was aprehensive about finalizing the purchase. I glad I followed through with the purchase. I have really enjoyed using the M8. My 5D hasn't seen any use except for a few occasions of shooting wildlife with long telephoto lens. gesper Posted November 1, 2007 Share #16 Posted November 1, 2007 Other than the fact that for more than four months of the first year the camera has been back off for repairs at Solms, it has been great.
