Hi All

Could anyone advise if there is a way to add on lenses to the Digilux 2.

I have had my camera a few years now and can say I am very disapointed in the Leica support. I was advised when buying the camera that Leica were going to bring out a range of add on lenses, but this has not happened.

Currently the camera has gone back to leica a second time to have the sensor repaired under warranty.

Hi Barry,

Welcome to the forum, the only add on lens for the Digilux 2 from Leica was the Elpro E69 close up, a 2 element achromat I believe. Panasonic did make one also but only a single element, also Panasonic made a wide angle add on, a monster which gave a factor around 0.75- 0.8 from memory.

All are hard to come by, an Elpro recently went for nearly 3 times its original price on that auction site.

Two years ago I had difficulty in obtaining one eventually tracking one down via a dealer in the USA.

I have had success using the element from an old Telyt 400 f5.6 lens as a close up, giving about the same magnification as the elpro.

Regards, Stuart.

Welcome to the forum Barry.

I also have and use the Elpro-D macro screw-on onto my D2. It's terrfific for wildflower and insects. They appear on ebay a few times a year, where I bought mine.

I didn't buy the Panasonic Wideangle....as it only increases to 24mm but it's quite a massive addon lens element......

Hi Dugby & Stumac

Thanks for the info. I will look around for one.

It would be helpful to get just that bit more zoom say upto about 170mm.

How do you find the Digilux 3. Is it a pucker Leica Lens or a built to spec lens as per the Digilux 2.

I have been thinking of going over to Canon or Nikon just because of the comparable cost of lenses and possible better support. Although I am pleased Leica have accepted the on going problem with Digilux 2 sensors and have been willing to do free repairs even outside of warrantie.

I was thinking about an M8 but I am not sure it is the right camera for me. I like taking a wide range of subject matter and have the belief that the rangefinder is mare relevant to reportarge style photography.

But I suppose this is another thread.

Any more suggestions regarding lens add ons would be helpful.

Baz
