biglouis Posted October 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just on the cusp between Autumn and Winter, on a misty afternoon, hence the flat feel to the colours. There is something sad to the way the lone majestic tree has lost clumps of its leaves. stuny Posted October 30, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2007 Big - A lovely pair. The composition of #1 works better for me.
kld Posted October 30, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 30, 2007 Agree with Stuart. The first one best expresses the a little sad autumn feelings of a promenador. -- Klaus
biglouis Posted October 30, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted October 30, 2007 Keith, Stuart and Klaus Thanks for the comments. And thanks to Keith for introducing me to Portra via an earlier post in the film forum. I'm glad that the views are that #1 does stand out. I thought it did but obviously I am biased!!! Portra actually seems to do what it says - capture lifelike colours naturally, which means that flat colours are flat. I wanted to try to capture that flat yet clear feeling that occurs during bright overcast. I have to say that using Portra has given my M6TTL a reprieve from selling it as I am now getting usable results. LouisB
robert_parker Posted October 30, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 30, 2007 Louis I wouldn't rush to sell it - lovely lifelike results and what for me is quite an interesting and evocative composition in #2 though #1 is probably the one you'd hang on the wall
