Advertisement Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Hi piedi101, Take a look here Leica M3 light leak. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dpitt Posted February 21, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted February 21, 2023 (edited) Maybe a hole in the shutter curtains? If so the leak will depend on the amount of time you take between advancing the film and shooting the shot. This is consistent with the 2 bottom shots. First the bottom one, and then re frame and take shot 2, which is not showing the light leak. Edited February 21, 2023 by dpitt
piedi101 Posted February 21, 2023 Author Share #3 Â Posted February 21, 2023 Could be exactly that thank you. I guess a shutter replacment is needed then...:(
Huss Posted February 22, 2023 Share #4 Â Posted February 22, 2023 That's definitely not a hole in a shutter curtain. Â That hard edge shows it is a light leak elsewhere - maybe through the VF or back door. Â I had a smaller version of that, but the same shape, and it was through the right side RF window. I think it's from the viewfinder. It's the same conical shape that appears erratically on my M5 negatives. There may not be pattern, either. Sun direction, shutter speed, etc, seems not to matter.

The leak I was referring to showed with  a horizontal hard edge and was placed nearer to the lower edge of frame , on a MP body. Let's hope the OP finds out what causes the leak ! JMF Posted February 23, 2023 Share #9  Posted February 23, 2023 (edited) Now I'd like to ask about a leak I have, as well on a M3 ! It is consistently (just shot 2 rolls) in the lower left spot with this oblong shape, most of the time dimmer than in the photo below. It does not bleed on the interimage so I'm with the feeling it comes from a shutter blind hole. Any advices are welcome and appreciated ! Welcome, dear visitor! L0071 Posted February 23, 2023 Share #10  Posted February 23, 2023 I had simular issues one was the film Lab, the other was the actual film roll itself, and last a leak in my shutter curtain, it's an act of Science trying to figure out who's at fault, I couldn't sleep for days
L0071 Posted February 23, 2023 Share #11 Â Posted February 23, 2023 Be careful shooting f-2 with low speed film you can burn filters and curtains, Photogtaphy fun... Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
