JHAG Posted October 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Minolta Multi Pro which yield excellent results, especially in low light negs. I'm not very fond of the Dimage UI? so I use Vuescan instead. I wondered though if there was another option available, apart those two. Thanks to all for advice. rob_x2004 Posted October 28, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2007 Check silverfast site for compatability.
JHAG Posted October 28, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 28, 2007 Thanks Rob, it is compatible, indeed. But the tag of Silver AI is a bit high:o
rob_x2004 Posted October 28, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2007 Ahhhhh yep. Whats wrong with the Minolta software?
JHAG Posted October 28, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted October 28, 2007 Apart the UI I hate, never could get a proper colour scan out of it. Instead, Vue Scan is quite OK, but it make the scan rumble like a cart.
rob_x2004 Posted October 28, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2007 How are you post processing? Maybe it is in your editing? I am getting far more detail using KM software than when I used Vuescan for APX100, 400, Ilford FP&HP, Fuji100, 160, 200, Reala, Konica Centura100 some old Agfa slides Kodachrome. They all require different handling after scanning, and admittedly some of the native files look flat some look cranky. But it is always the same, the file is more complete and much more editable. Ive never tried to get somthing that looks right straight off the scanner. I guess if you just want to scan and post without editing, the silverfast option is probably the best. Dont have it, trialed it. Have to be a bit careful if you decide to delete the trial version on Mac.
JHAG Posted October 28, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted October 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I scan as flatly as possible, and do all the tweakings in CS2. What is KM ?
rob_x2004 Posted October 28, 2007 Share #8 Posted October 28, 2007 Konica Minolta. You mentioned DiMage software?
JHAG Posted October 28, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted October 28, 2007 Oh, I was a bit slow… Well, I've got excellent results with VS, very poor with Dimage for Minolta.
tobey bilek Posted November 17, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 17, 2007 I bought a new mac computer to be sure I coould continue to run my KM software. Results are better tha my Nikon D200 digicam. I have set up color for the films I use plus black and white "programs" so I put the film in, call up the program, and scan. Manual professional mode only.
