I cannot remember such a big amount of discount in Leica history Oh I dunno, I remember it with the SL top 601, the S top 006 and 007 at the end of their product life, and the CL and TL kits. Also, when the M10 was about the launch they did it with the M typ 262, or made SE versions of the M9 and S 006 to run concurrently with the 007, and they really didn't discontinue the 007 only added the S3 at a higher premium (granted, try and get a new S camera at all and you will run into "out of stock" most anyplace.) This doesn't mean much, except Leica is better than MOST companies when it comes to getting a camera into people's hands without compromising much of their pricing structure ($1300-2300 is still only around 20%) This is all pretty standard for Leica to get a camera out into hands when they are making room for a new version. With the launch of the Lumix S5II I would imagine a SL3 or SL3-S is right around the corner. These new Summicron-SL lenses are the same glass configuration as the Lumix f2 L mount lenses after all. The biggest issue with the SL system has been professionals looking at the premium price tag and saying, "everything else is there except we can't live with contrast-only AF!"
