Hello! I have just bought a used Q2. The seller informed me that the camera works fine except for the Bluetooth, which doesn't seem to work at all, and, for some reason, the 'camera information' function. I accepted this, I don't mind much if it proves impossible to turn these on. The camera itself is great. It can't hurt to try though, so I am coming for help to you.

I've been to a Leica store (the customer service is really on a different level!), they were kind enough to test it with their battery and SD card, and the results were exactly the same. Here's what happens every time:

1. When I try to turn the Bluetooth on, a loading screen appears (a moving circle), and then the screen goes dark and a green text is displayed saying 'Please turn the camera off and on again'. So I do that and it's fine.

2. When I try to access the 'camera information' function, the same loading screen appears, and again after a while the same green text, only this time all I can do is take the battery out and put it in again. Nothing else works. After I do that, everything's fine.

So my question is - do you have any ideas, tips, tricks that I might try to apply to update the firmware? That's the only thing I would care about. As far as I know (judging by the functions available) it has the 3.0 version; I'd love to benefit from the 4.0 niceness. I couldn't find any ways to force the update directly from the SD card and I'm assuming it would require some great programming skills, if at all possible. I can't do that from the app, because Bluetooth is gone. I can send it to Wetzlar, but the repair cost would likely be too high for it to make sense. Maybe the cold winter was too harsh on the poor thing? Or maybe it actually needs more cold for the electronics to work? Should I try with a brand new battery? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

(Again - I'm fine with what I bought, but it can't hurt to try to update it!)

Thank you!

Puzzled here. According to the Release notes by Leica you can update the camera is by the SD card, like any Leica camera. Just follow the instructions.
I would contact Leica for this problem. A simple full reset by the factory might restore the functions that are corrupted. And who told you it would take months? The length of repairs  is determined by the type of repair, work load  and availability of spare parts. Some take long, in other cases the camera is back home in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for your answer! Unfortunately the instruction on how to update from SD card says in one of the steps 'go to the camera information' which, well, I can't access.

I did reset it, but I think all it did was to reset it to factory settings. I didn't find any info on a hard reset, and as far as I know it isn't possible...

I'll email Leica, but I'm afraid they'll tell me what the Leica store employees told me... (Again, super nice people).

That is to determine the firmware present by the user and is not part of the update process. Follow the instructions, don’t attempt to open the update file. Use a SD card formatted in your computer Copy the file that you downloaded onto the card. Insert the card into the camera and follow the instructions that come with the update. If that does not work take it to a Leica Store or authorized dealer and request that they update it. If they cannot have Leica Wetzlar sort it. A hard reset plus complete firmware wipe and reload can only be done by the factory. Disregard grumpy Internet complaints about Leica CS. Yes, stuff happens like anywhere , but in general they are excellent. Satisfied customers don’t post stories.

Wait, I'm confused: so the firmware file from the SD card should open automatically? I previously did like you said, formatted the card, copied the firmware file into the root folder and put it inside the camera, but nothing interesting happened. The instruction (attached) seems to refer to the one function in my camera that isn't working. Am I missing something?
