Recommendations for a workflow...M11, FOTOS 2.0 and Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Mobile (IOS)... for getting photos ... from M11 to both Lightroom Mobile and Lightroom Classic?

Want to take advantage of GPS data from FOTOS app, and want have photos up in Adobe's cloud.  Ideally uploading to the cloud when out in the field using an IOS device and I guess FOTOS back down into Lightroom Classic on a desktop machine back home.

I am not yet clear on use of FOTOS 2.0 as an intermediary step, and fell like I am missing the obvious on a smart workflow.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

THANKS!!!

Mark

Slow  and unnecessarily complicated - use a card reader to get them into your computer at home into the DAM and postprocessing program of your choice. Have iCloud upload automatically.

You don't want to fiddle around during a shoot in the field.

The following is possible: You can import the photos into the iPhone via the Leica app wirelessly or with the MfI cable that came with the camera. Wireless is much faster. Or you can buy an SD card adapter and use it to import photos into the Photos app. That's even faster. In Lightroom mobile, you can set it to automatically import images from the Photos app. However, Lightroom mobile must be active for this. After the import, the photos are also automatically uploaded to the Adobe Cloud if you have set this and have a sufficient Internet connection. In Lightroom Classic, you specify a folder that monitors the Adobe Cloud. This is where the photos are then automatically downloaded from the cloud.

This works well so far. The problem is then rather not to mess up the image inventory. The photos in the iPhone's Photos app are not synchronized. I therefore delete them after the photos are in the cloud.

What I have not tried yet, whether you can import directly into Lightroom mobile with the card reader, without the photos appear in the Photos app. You can't do that via the Leica app. Everything that ends up there automatically ends up in the Photos app.

I just tried it. You can import directly into Lightroom mobile using the SD card reader. Then there are no duplicates in the Photos app if you have turned off local saving.

Given that we can go direct from SD card reader to Lightroom Mobile, is there any reason to use FOTOS app?  Does FOTOS app add any utility in this context?

No, it does not in this context but in other. With the App You can add geo information to Your photos, You have a remote control and You can update firmware.

I wrote to Leica about importing wireless only into LR via the App. Do the same, perhaps they do it if we are enough.

I am finding that when I use the FOTOS app (current version) that I can only transfer 99 images at a time from FOTOS to Lightroom Mobile - which is way too few and a pain for many scenarios.  Not horrible, and hopefully that will be a soon upgrade.  I do like the idea of the Geotagging, and now I need to determine if I need to keep the App open during my shots.

Also I would love to actually import to my iPad when on the road, rather than iPhone (given that I can start to edit right away on a bigger device and not have to wait for the Cloud sync.  But if we want the Geo Tagging, I guess we will have to use the iPhone not the iPad (because I am not going to walk around town with the iPad in my pocket!)

You don´t have to keep the App open. Activate geotagging in the App (set to "ever"), the You can close the App and geotagging will work via low energy bluetooth if the iPhone is near enough.
