I tweaked the roller cam ever so slightly back from infinity and now it is right on. None of my other lenses changed, at least that I can see. Whereas before, the 50 was useless for wide open portraiture, now it is exact. I don't know if this means that all my other lenses are "not" focusing right at infinity, but from testing, them seem fine. the 50 still focuses wide open on very distant objects racked to infinity, and the rangefinder patch is still coincident. The tricky part with doing the camera is that the 5 other lenses I have will no longer focus properly. They are all correct, so that leads me to believe that the camera shouldn't be adjusted. Thanks, Per Yes, it actually is a known problem with this lens (do a forum search). I had mine shimmed by Don Goldberg (DAG) as did another member on this forum. It didn't make it perfect but a lot better. Still has a bit of backfocus between f2.8 and 5.6 but some Leica lenses are exhibiting this behavior no matter what. It's a matter of design and the low tolerances of digital. Don't adjust your M8 unless all of your lenses have a problem. Mine was the pre-asph second generation. Hi, Right, and the thing is that my other five lenses focus just fine - so it would stand to reason that the lens - since it is off by a consistent amount through the whole focus range - should be able to be adjusted so hat it is correct? I guess that if I used this on my other bodies, it might focus well also - but that is irrelevant as I am now shooting with the M8. Should be able to get it to focus...
