DustyGear Posted January 20, 2023 Share #1  Posted January 20, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received an old suitcase containing some Leica (Leitz/Wetzlar) equipment that belonged to my grandfather. There are a couple of items I can't figure out. I am not a photography enthusiast. I'm cleaning up some of the items to put up for sale, and I don't even know what to call this thing. Any help would be much appreciated.    Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Hi DustyGear, Take a look here Leica Accessory Identification Help Needed. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted January 20, 2023 Share #2 Â Posted January 20, 2023 Hi It's a film cutting template, with the part code name ABLON. Earlier Leica cameras needed to have a long leader cut into the film to allow it to be loaded into the camera - it all had to be done via the base of the camera, with no hinged rear doors as in later (M) models. The 35mm film was held in the middle of the two hinged sections and the spare film that would be visible on the right hand side, cut off. Still very useful for those that use older screw thread lens mount Leicas, yours looks to be in really excellent condition. The forum doesn't do "valuations", but a quick look on eBay or dealers' websites will give you an idea of its worth - bearing in mind that the dealers will be needing to cover their overheads and profit too.
DustyGear Posted January 20, 2023 Author Share #3  Posted January 20, 2023 Thank you for the information! I understand that this is not a valuation site, I'm just gathering information. There are four other things that I don't know the proper names of, and they are in the attached picture. The leather case is for the rectangular eyepiece. Thanks if anyone can ID these things. I've seen some things like this online with differing names. Thanks!
