As I eagerly await the delivery of my M9M, here is another from the last time I owned one.

I think this is in Wales

Hard to believe that it's been 8 years since I placed the order for my M Monochrom. Received it Dec 2012. I see no reason to buy another monochrome camera, this one has the best uniformity of the Leica digital cameras. It had the sensor replaced under warranty, was without it for a few months. The sensor picked up one line defect- that I chased down. A few years ago came up with an equation that I liked and wrote some software to apply a Gamma curve to the DNG files directly. Copy the files to a directory, the software applies the curve and generates new DNG files. Adjusts the Black Level in the DNG file header. It suits my taste- and I generally do not apply much else to the images. It also restores the underperforming scan line, which was not "dead" just dragged down to lower intensity going through one pixel in the sensor.

ANYWAY- before and after applying a Gamma curve to the DNG file and adjusting the Black level setting in the DNG header. Imported to LR6, straight conversions to JPEG. 1936 Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 5cm F1.5, wide-open. Converted to Leica mount.

Damn - you might well be right. Apologies. Kind of wondered if I'd already posted it before. Takes a long time to go through a thread to check. I don't think there's any way of deleting once you've posted, is there?

It's good enough to post twice.

Seems like a long time ago now, Melbourne 2019 - Hoping the borders open up and traveling is an option next year.
