Hi Chuck

Not really a problem. It was not snowing while I was out, well not much anyway, and it was really only windy (very windy) for 30 minutes of my hike. The rest I guess was about -3 or -4 degrees Celsius with little wind chill.

Most of the time the camera was in a shoulder bag since I was using walking poles (the snow was often knee deep), but I had to change the battery only after about 2 hours and one 16Gb card later. That was after I was in the wind for about 20 minutes.

All in all I wasn't disappointed with the battery life I got - but being used to the M9 it was what I was expecting.

Regards

Richard

Thanks, I was wondering how the batts did in cold weather. I just ordered another spare.

Chuck

... and I'm seriously thinking about the MM over the new M-240 after trying it at the Leica SOHO store...

I´am thinking along a similar route, after trying the beauty somewhere else.

It´s a really fine product and could hold it´s value as a top notch picture-tool

for longer than an M8/ M9/ M ...

Magic BW. Which lens and PP?

b

billo,

thank you so much for your kind comment. I am particularly

pleased by it as I really admire your posted b&w images.

In answer to your query:

Lens: 0.95 Noctilux, but this shot was taken prior to the arrival of

the orange filter (which I am now using all the time) I'm still not sure

how much difference it really makes.

PP: From the RAW file in LR4 just a bit of "clarity" (love that slider)

and "black" to get some added punch as the MM images always seem

a bit "flat" straight out of the camera. Plus some exposure adjustment

and opening up the shadows a touch.

Dee.

Monochrom, 50 Summarit. For me, a great discovery was finding if I nailed the exposure there was no PP to do!

First shots @320 ISO, last two @1250.

Here are a couple where it wouldn't make any difference whether taken with the M or MM because there literally was no color--only black, white and gray. We had much snow yesterday and last night and I came across these bicycles while out walking today.
