Thoughts on these new bodies and what they mean for the new SL? Specs look very good and fill in a lot of the gaps in performance with Sony, etc in the autofocus space.

I think that it's going to be an awesome iteration of the S5, especially for those into video.  For us still folks, I don't think the advancements are enough to dump existing cameras for.  As a matter of fact, after seeing the spec sheet on the new S5II, I bought a new S5 WITH the Lumix 85mm f/1.8 for $1500.   I also have an S1 and the autofocus just isn't as problematic as some suggest, at least not for me.  The S5 for almost half price with a free lens was too good of a deal to pass up.

It'll be interesting to see how Leica implements the new AF technology.

My thoughts are, with PDAF face/eye/body detect, 60 MP, and the APO 90 Summicron-SL street photography will become like wildlife photography, from the waist with a flippy screen. With 100 MP in the SL4/S1R III, you will be able to do street photography basically from your home if you crop down to 5 MP.

Word is the video guys are flocking to the S5 II.

You mean vloggers who point the camera in the wrong direction. I haven't seen much about the S5 II from people who actually film something 🙂

No doubt that vloggers have shorter timelines. They need to get their reviews out on the day of the announcement!

CineD and NewsShooter posted long reviews, and I consider them both to be "people who actually film something."
