Hi all,

I love my SL2s and the lenses with it but was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the rubber rings turning whitish? I look after my gear well and they live in a dehumidifeid cabinet when not in use.

Any recommendations on how to treat/prevent this??

Thanks in advance!

This happens to a few of my lenses but not all equally used lenses. Not sure why. I keep a dry toothbrush ready just for this. I just give the rubber-like focus ring a brisk dry brush a couple of times over and that does the trick, I finish with a rocket blower just incase there is any dry residue left after the brushing. I don't use any type of liquid, alcohol or any solution.

From what I have experienced, once it starts on one lens it seems to happen again on the same lens from time to time--must be some breakdown in the material.. But the toothbrush alone seems to be the solution.

Thanks for your suggestion! Will try this first before the solution method. Haven't had a chance to try anything yet but hopefully soon. 👌
