edlaurpic Posted October 18, 2007 Share #43 Posted October 18, 2007 Here is one with R9/DMR and 180/2.8 APO (current). It is of a Northwest coast native American Kwakiutl Seal mask. telyt Posted October 18, 2007 Share #44 Posted October 18, 2007 Another question then: How about the colours? Do you need to do a lot of post processing to make them as beautiful as you have shown here or do they look good right out the box? I'm shooting RAW & processing with Imacon FlexColor. I rarely do anything special to the colors.

echorec Posted October 18, 2007 Author Share #46 Posted October 18, 2007 Thanks again for really beautiful pics! One last question: Which of my old R lenses can/can´t I use? Do I need to upgrade them with ROM contacts? Thanks, Gunnar
mgcd Posted October 18, 2007 Share #47 Posted October 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks again for really beautiful pics! One last question: Which of my old R lenses can/can´t I use? Do I need to upgrade them with ROM contacts? Thanks, Gunnar All R lenses made since 1965 (at least modified to 3 cams) can be used without further modifications. There is no need to upgrade to ROM contacts, although there are some benefits (Rob posted some examples in another thread) with ROM due to their ability to allow in-camera processing especially to counter vignetting in wide angle lenses. JasonSF Posted October 19, 2007 Share #54 Posted October 19, 2007 GREAT pics. looking at these pics has given me huge inspiration to get out all weekend with my camera! Anyone have an R9+DMR for sale? Cheers Jason
ChrisDIGILUX2 Posted October 19, 2007 Share #55 Posted October 19, 2007 Im impressed! i did not know such a quality could be reached with digital. Unfortunately, an R9+DMR+lenses makes a lot of money, you could almost get a Blad with the digital back with the same budget... - chris

Unfortunately, an R9+DMR+lenses makes a lot of money, you could almost get a Blad with the digital back with the same budget... - chris Chris: Have the Blads gotten that cheap? When the DMR was still being sold by Leica they were offering a R9/DMR package that was about $7,000. I don't think the Hasselblad lenses are any cheaper than the Leica glass either. ChrisDIGILUX2 Posted October 19, 2007 Share #59 Posted October 19, 2007 eBay is full of Hasselblads and Zeiss lenses at bargain prices. Remains the digital back, which is not cheap, but there are some at eBay too... - chris
Likaleica Posted October 19, 2007 Share #60 Posted October 19, 2007 you could almost get a Blad with the digital back with the same budget... - chris Chris, I just sold my 205 TCC and CFV digital back when I saw the image quality that the DMR produces. In fact, I did side by side comparisons. The Leica was at least as good, not to mention so much easier to use. By the time you crop the square format, it's about the same number of pixels. Now, the CFV pixels are about 9 microns vs about 7 for the Leica, but the Imacon processing really makes a difference on the Leica. And, the smaller format has the advantages of greater DOF and greater ease of use. Subjectively, I much prefer the few pictures I have made in the short time I have had the DMR compared to the ones I took with the CFV.
