While this one was parked at the side of the road, they seem to hunt in packs, about 10 at a time, on some sort of safari

elansprint72 Posted October 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 17, 2007 That is actually a perfectly composed and technically excellent shot. Just enough of all of the subjects- car, "the wall" and building.
andybarton Posted October 17, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted October 17, 2007 Thanks guys. It's a Trabant and there are more than a few running round the city.

andybarton Posted October 17, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted October 17, 2007 Trabants were made in the former East Germany, had two-stroke engines and had bodies made out of cardboard and string (or something like that). You wouldn't want to be in a crash in one, I suspect... They were never sold in the "west", but were pretty much all that was available in Eastern Europe, if one didn't want a Wartburg or Polski-Fiat. There were hundreds in the queues of traffic that came into the West via Austria and Hungary as Eastern Europe collapsed in 1989
biglouis Posted October 17, 2007 Share #7 Posted October 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great documentary photograph, given the type of vehicle and its juxtaposition to the chunk of wall. The colours work in your favour as well with the Trabant almost matching the clear blue sky behind. A really well seen and executed idea, imho. stunsworth Posted October 17, 2007 Share #9 Posted October 17, 2007 Here's a Trabi in all its glory - shown with the rare sports, lowered suspension, 'mini moke' model. This probably involved having the roof removed with a pair of scissors.
andybarton Posted October 17, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted October 17, 2007 Scuttle-shake defined... The blue one was one of the pack of 10 that was roaming around the city all day Saturday.
