andcolor Posted October 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an M8 and love it. It has replaced my 5d for portraiture in all cases except for the squirmy, one year old who would rather run around the studio than smile for the camera. The 5d has other uses too, is a good camera etc, etc. The problem is, I hate using it. Now, completly happy and at ease w. my M8, the Canon feels like a cannon. I was thinking of selling the 5d and replacing it w. a v-lux as a back-up and for the occasional soccer game shoot. It would be good to have a zoom and telephoto and a macro. It seems like the v-lux would be just dandy for that. Do any of you have images you would share. Close-ups. Portraits. Bugs in the garden. A variety would be good. And comments. Opinions. Etc. How about noise? I often shoot in dim places:-0 All the Best, Linda
Advertisement Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Hi andcolor, Take a look here Anyone using a v-lux?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rsh Posted October 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 15, 2007 I have one for that same purpose and it works well. The EVF viewfinder can be a bit tough on the eyes, but overall, The V-lux produces very good images for a bridge camera.

doubice Posted October 15, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 15, 2007 Linda, I have the V-Lux' Panasonic predecessor, the DMC-FZ30. I am very happy with it, as long as I work around some of its short comings: noise at ISO 400 and higher and the LCD finder. The finder really does not bother me as much, because the other side of the coin would be an SLR camera with a mirror and much more noise. I find the lens excellent, main reason I got the camera was its zoom range. My main camera is the M8 but, if I go out with just light gear, the DMC-FZ30 fits, along with a Digilux 2 which just came back from the ''New Jersey Extended Care Facility'. To find out more about the camera, check the dpreview site's review: Panasonic DMC-FZ50 Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review The review is about the Panasonic version but, the V-Lux is pretty well the same camera. Best, Jan
