Adam_James Posted December 28, 2022 Share #1  Posted December 28, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello All,    I own a Leica SL2-S and the 24-90 Zoom.  I am looking into the Leica 15mm Super Elmarit-R f/2.8 but would like to use a filter system.     I know that the lens has a built-in turret filter system, but what if you wanted to use graduated neutral density filters or other special effects filters like a Hi-tech or Lee system?  Is there any way to use a system like that on this lens? I know it has that petal shaped hood and I’m just wondering if anyone found a work around? Thanks in advance, Adam
Advertisement Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Hi Adam_James, Take a look here Is there a way to use a filter system with Leica Super Elmarit-R 15mm f/2.8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jankap Posted December 28, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted December 28, 2022 The built-in filters are useless and cannot be changed (according to Leica). The use of filters in front of the lens could be suboptimal, because of the wide coverage of the lens. But I have not tried such a filter. The use of a good lens booster to use the lens with the Sony 6500 (APS-C) was not satisfactory. It is an excellent lens.
Lovegenrefilms Posted January 9, 2023 Share #3  Posted January 9, 2023 I was pondering this very question for some time. I initially ordered off ebay a Rafcamera 83.5 clamp adaptor but had no luck. Extreme vignetting and if not careful, you can damage the lens housing with the screws that hold the filter on. So definitely stay away from that. That said, I did have success with the Bright tangerine misfit atom matte box with their rubber donut. Fit like a charm. S35 on my S1H and Full frame worked perfectly. I did vignette on the open gate 6k mode but I also did have the rubber hood on that you can take off. The downside with this system is you need to use a rail system to support the matte box. I would imagine other matte boxes work too.  Would love to hear any other solutions. Please keep us posted on your journey of adding filtration to your 15mm.
