Seasons greetings. Mrs Santa kindly gifted me an 11” iPad Pro (more envisaged for non-photo use), but I am starting to wonder if it might possibly be useful for digital camera workflow, both at stage of image capture and also for post processing.

- at the time of capture, can an iPad be wirelessly or non-wirelessly tethered to an M or SL to compose on a larger screen in live view? For my M10 Monochrom, on a tripod, I often compose (and focus by zooming in) on the camera’s rear screen in live view; is there anyway to use an iPad’s larger screen to essentially “mirror” what i am doing on the cameras’s rear screen? If so, how?

- for post processing, I use Adobe’s Photography Plan (20 GB storage), basically just the Photoshop part and only store images physically on the hard-drives connected to my iMac. I think I can have 2 devices under the plan (so for me, an iMac and now could presumably add an iPad). How can one edit perhaps a selection of images on an iPad if I’m mainly using the iMac? Does one add the iPad to the Adobe account, then upload some DNGs to the Cloud, and then those “Cloud-only” images are editable across both devices?

Thanks for any thoughts on the above, even over and beyond what I’ve asked if you think helpful. I was advised once on this forum to use Bridge (in conjunction with PS), which was a great idea and really good for my workflow, so I’m all ears for any suggestions on the iPad!

Yes, you can use the Leica app, just as you use it on your mobile. It's not as good as proper tethering, but decent enough. It'd be great to have cable tethering implemented into the Leica app, that would be a nice feature to add and perfectly doable via app - maybe you can send a request to Leica

You have various options:

1. you can log in into Photoshop / Lightroom on your iPad. It won't count as a second device, the limit is for computers. As far as I know, the images stashed on Adobe Cloud are editable on both devices. Keep in mind that Lightroom for iPad is still very limited, for example there's no custom camera profiles.

What I usually do when I'm on the move, I import the photos directly into Lightroom for iPad, cull the selection, and let the iPad upload the rest. Your Mac at home will automatically sync and download the photos too. Once back at home, I move the files from online to offline into a folder on the Mac, to save space on the 20gb plan

2. Option 2 is to connect your iPad to your Mac via Sidecar and use it as a second screen

I suggest getting an Apple Pencil, it's fantastic for portraits but also dodge & burn etc.

That’s really helpful. Many thanks indeed. Lots for me to get on and explore!
