Hello !

I have a screen flickering problem since yesterday on my SL2-S. To give you some context, I have always used it with M lenses and the official M/L adapter. I have a 50mm summilux pre-asph and a 35mm summicron v4. The issue only appears when using the 35mm. When I switch the lenses, the flicker stops. I tried to reset the camera but it did not change anything. The issue also disappears when I turn the lens profile off.

Does anybody have had the same issue ? If yes, how could I correct this?

Thanks in advance !

Hallo,

I think I had almost the same problem with my SL2-S few days ago. This is the first time I notice something like this.
My setup was different as yours. I had mounted Novoflex M to L adapter on my SL2-S and on him M42 - M adapter.
Than I screwed in my Helios 44-M and than mounted my anamorphic lens Sankor 16 F on the Helios 44-M...

I also have original Leica M adapter L that I use with my Leica M lenses but I did't want to stress him so I used Novoflex.
I use this set up couple of years and also on my SL2 before... I never got any problem of this kind. Nothing, no problems
with IBIS, no camera freezing, no shutdowns and no EVF/LCD screen flickering... This was the first time.

I operated the camera in the cine mode after some time flickering started... I did't recorded in that moment, just played
with focusing two lenses at once... The flickering in the EVF/LCD was irregular, somewhat fast, few time a second...
Like if when is weak contact between two wires and the light star to flicker or old neon tubes in the subway station...
What funny is I used the camera that day for some time with this setup and there was no problem like this...
The camera could record and shoot photos also...

I immediately after this started checked the mount on the camera, the EVF/LCD screen was on Auto mode so I also
checked that... Changed few time from EVF to LCD to Extended mode and then back to Auto mode... On every setting
it was the same flickering problem... Than I shut down the camera, waited few second and turned her on again...
The flickering was still there... I shut down the camera, took the battery and SD Card out , waited few seconds and
than started her back... The flickering problem was still there so I decided to repeat this but this time also to unmount the
lens. I put everything back and started the camera... The flickering problem on EVF/LCD screen was gone...
It newer appeared again and I hope that newer will... All this was few days back... This gave me a shock because the camera
is new and I don't want to send her for repair. This never happened when I use original Leica M adapter L with M lenses...
I newer tried this setup, Helios 44-M and Sankor 16F on this Leica adapter because it is little bit heavy...

The camera is on the last FW and I use Kingstone Canvas 128Gb v90 300Mb/s SDXC  cards...
My conclusion is that this is some kind of FW glitch of some kind...
Funny thing is that this happened almost at the same time on your SL-2-S and my...
I purchased my SL2-S new in August this year if this mean something...

I hope that this can help you to resolve this problem... Good luck...

Hi,
in my case there was no "Unknown Lens" message... It just started flickering EVF/LCD screen after some time camera operating in Cine mode...
Before I mounted the lens I had turned of Auto lens recognition and manually entered the 58mm of my Helios 44-M...
I must say that the Novoflex M to L adapter sit really good on the L mount side on the SL2-S... Almost as good as the Leica native M-Adapter-L...
But on the M mount side where you mount the lens there is little wiggling noticeable, but not much... As the Novoflex adapter have no 6-bit code
this could not be a problem from the lens side... Also the M42-M adapter that I mounted on the Novoflex is without 6-bit code ...
I think the problem is somewhere else... Most likely in the FW code...

That is exactly the issue I have. I tried to unscrew everything of the camera, then put everything back and it stopped flickering. From what I read on the posts you linked, I think I might need to send the lens to make it coded...

Hi,
just watched the video that you provided... I had exactly the same flickering of the EVF/LCD screen...
In my post here I described everything I know and did to stop the flickering problem...
I hope it will help you to resolve this on your Leica SL2-S...
