I´m considering selling my new 28mm f/2.8 ASPH (mint)..... because i Just bought an 21mm f/2.8 ASPH - and is looking for a 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. My question is: Do they make the 35mm 1.4 in silver/chrome/titan? Seems like it`s hard to find! Other lenses like the 21 ASPH, 24 ASPH, and 90 APO were also available in chrome, but no longer. If you are interested in a silver chrome 35 lux, send me a PM. And at the same time the 28mm Elmarit is a nice light lens that performs well for me. My favorite 35 is an old third generation Sumicron. And I've just had a look on SHPhoto and nearly fallen off my chair at the prices. I would expect to pay €1800 to €2000 all in for a 35 Summilux Asph Chrome with all papers and packaging. 6bit might be harder to find given all these lenses were manufactured before Leica decided to code all lenses. They do come up from time on ebay and quite frequently at that. I had a lovely chrome copy which I sold to Carsten a few months back and understandably he has fallen in love with it. It is heavier than the standard black lens, it has a slightly clinky feel to the aperture ring, obviously the base metal of brass just makes a different sound on the aperture stops. But the nicest feel of all was in the focus tab, it was silky smooth and beautifully dampend. A lot of people have reported no backfocus issues with the chrome versions and I can confirm that was also the case with mine. Truly a beautiful lens with outstanding results at all apertures. It's interesting, I sold it and a chrome 21 Asph to get a 28 Summicron Asph and you're going the other way. Personally I found for my style the 21 got little use and the 35 proved too narrow most of the time, hence I settled for the 28 Summicron. The Nocti is finally back, I bite my lip with the overall disappointment I am feeling over the whole episode. I'll take the next couple of weeks trying to adjust to the quirks of the lens and see if I can compensate for the focus shift repetitivly, somehow now i regret my choice just for this issue but I'm sure I'll come around once I get a chance to produce some nice images. Anyway I hope you manage to fine a reasonably priced chrome or titanium 35 Lux Asph. Take your time and you should succeed. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

This is my second lens, the first had a few challenges and Leica exchanged it under warranty. The current one is a nice lens but I - and it could be me - have constant trouble focusing it, it is big and heavy and only one stop over my 30 plus year old cron that paints just beautifully. So I end up using it very little and may just get rid of it one day. It is one of those things. I expected the world and feel that I got a bit less. And just wanted to warn you of this. Having said that, there is a notable tightness in the focusing ring between about 3 feet and 5 feet, and at those distances, I have some focusing difficulties. Not only was the focus ring stiff but in several cases there was a noticeable screetching sound as with metal on metal. After servicing in Solms all the lenses are now perfect. pelikan1931 Posted October 13, 2007 Share #17 Posted October 13, 2007 the chrome lens is good for fondling, and nothing beats the cold and heavy chrome plated brass. but for actually use, i prefer the black annoy one. i still remember how i had to carefully put the camera onto the table with the chrome 35 asph summilux, if not, the lens will land on the table first with a heavy knock sound. those chrome lens simply does not balance well. I used to carry L glass - the 35 is light compared to that. If you carried a 28 cron the, yes, the 35 is a bit heavier. The person was asking for more information that what you gave.
