I went to use the Grey Card WB option in the studio yesterday, with my M11 and Godox studio strobes.

I wanted to capture the color temp of the flash+softboxes, using an Expodisc.

This method works just fine for ambient light, but when using flash I noted that it fails to trigger the flash, so making it useless.

Anyone know of a way around this issue?

I tried using the preset FLASH WB, but of course it's not calibrated to my flash, so I need to batch fit all of the RAW files.

Are you tethering? Next time just take your first image with the subject and the greycard, and you can set your WB in Lightroom or Capture One. As long as you have one image with the greycard, you can find the white balance and apply it to all the images.

I can see the issue, then taking a card reading off the camera is does only ambient light because the flash does not fire!

that needs to be reported to support. It works fine on SL cameras.

It is not a GODOX issue because I just have tried it with Leica flash.

That's exactly the issue - it looks like a Leica bug to me

No tethering - I like to set WB in camera, and then it's always associated with the as shot WB for that file

Godox leica trigger is not compatible m11

That Said you are probably just using manual power on the strobes to control the light.

Make sure exposure is correct for Grey card

Setting/controlling the strobes using Sekonic L-858D-U with Godox module, and using the Godox trigger in basic trigger mode - so no issues.

What's not working on the M11? TTL? HSS?

Issue reported to Leica this morning - I'll post their reply on this thread

Just received feedback from Leica:

Good morning Mr. Dodkin,

Thank you for contacting us and bringing this point to our attention.

In studio situations with flash, especially with a tethered workflow I'd generally suggest using a color checker card to acquire your white balance, but I do agree with the validity of your point, especially considering the hot shoe is triggered on other models such as the SL. I'll make this suggestion to our engineers.

Many thanks,

Brian Roy

Dear Chris,
Good day!

Thanks for contacting Godox.
We are sorry that we do not test all camera models one by one.

However, several users reported that the TTL and HSS modes of XProIIL and M11 are not compatible.
Our technicians have received the feedback and they will arrange a test, but there is no new progress reported yet.

Sorry for the inconvenience, should you have further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Sincerely,
Vera Huang
