cme4brain Posted October 9, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2007 Just kidding. Picked up a mint Visoflex III. Now a chance for some astro imaging. IR sensitivity should be a plus. Anyone into astroimaging in this forum?? I would not imagine the M8 is the best imager for astroimaging. It is not optimized for long exposures. I wish you luck! aj55 Posted October 9, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted October 9, 2007 I am not going to make long exposures. Stacking a lot of relatively short exposures is the game ( say 10-20 sec.) I have seen people taking their Canon's apart just to take the ir filter out!
Riccis Posted October 9, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 9, 2007 What's the lowest usable shutter speed you can get away with while hand holding this baby? Seriously, enjoy it and share the results. Cheers, Riccis

Would you describe the workflow you will use to combine the separate images? Thanks.

aj55 Posted October 10, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted October 10, 2007 Arnold, I am trying to imagine the process of adding images to one another. Would you describe the workflow you will use to combine the separate images? Thanks. Bill, Picture Window has a function for this. You can align with 3 stars. This is necessary because of fieldrotation with this mount (altazimuth). With a German mount this would not occur. I must admit that I have to polish up on these functions! pascal_meheut Posted October 10, 2007 Share #11 Posted October 10, 2007 Good idea to use the 1.25 magnifier. It will be a big help to focus with the Celestron First forum users to post a picture of its M8 mounted on the Hubble Telescope wins a free steak with all the trimmings (as well as the one who can say where this quote comes from, even if it is an easier contest)

etrigan63 Posted October 10, 2007 Share #13 Posted October 10, 2007 It's rather new (a little under two years old I think) but is photography oriented and hilarious! You have to read English (and have a sense of humor).

luigi bertolotti Posted October 11, 2007 Share #15 Posted October 11, 2007 Here ya go Where do you want to go for dinner? NAH !!! A trivial FAKE !!!! All people that have REALLY SEEN IT know well that it was a CHROME M8 that was attached to the Hubble Telescope !!! (And without the Viso... no people fro moving the mirror... )
etrigan63 Posted October 11, 2007 Share #16 Posted October 11, 2007 NASA Engineers requested the Viso. There is a remote actuator on the other side. The M8 wasn't complicated enough for them. The black body is a backup while the primary chrome body was sent to Solms for adjustment.

willemvelthoven Posted October 12, 2007 Share #19 Posted October 12, 2007 NAH !!! A trivial FAKE !!!! All people that have REALLY SEEN IT know well that it was a CHROME M8 that was attached to the Hubble Telescope !!! (And without the Viso... no people fro moving the mirror... ) Hmmm, I can imagine that they just included the viso because of the focal plane distance or so. but why the hell (im himmels namen) include the 90 degree finder? that would be just excess weight. and actually, i'm sure that rather than paying 27.000 for a used viso, NASA would have gladly John Milich 13.000 for a custom macro tube... (john probably tried to charge them $150, they couldn't take it seriously and went for the used viso) i'm a fraid i'll still have to vote FAKE. (nice try though)
