Photoshop Elements - questions

Hi to all

I have red about the availabilty of Photoshop Elements V6; I like a lot Lightroom, and my PS (non "elements") is old (6.0) and costly to upgrade; I have red many times that PSElements is fine and I am tempted to buy... price is interesting. Does anyone have some advice about ? Are the basic functions (color correction, curves, BW conversions, selections, level management) really good as PS's ? Are the image dimensions so well manageable as in PS ? Does it support the 16 bit color space ?

Of course, I appreciate infos on users of previous version too (I see that V5 is about 1 year old), and there are also a pair of specific issues I am intersted to :

- Stitching : is it present in the standard box-delivered PS Elements ? I tried some freeware, but counting on a single software would be a lot better ...

- RAW (M8 DNG of course...) : as I said, I'm a happy user of LR, but seems to me that also in PSE the M8 DNG format is manageable: is it true ? If so, are there significant limitations vs. the Lightroom DNG developer ?

Thanks to all who can give me some advice about.

Luigi - I can hardly call myself an expert - as I have used film until only some months ago when I bought the M8. I have made an effort to learn Photoshop over the last weeks. I have Elements 5.0 and shoot only RAW files. Your questions:

- Stitching: Yes, it is available. It is a simple programme and without many "bells and whistles" but it works very well. I have tried it an I am impressed with the results.

- M8 profile: Do not know whether a pre-made profile for the M8 is available, but at least you can define your own default camera profile for processing the RAW pictures. As for myself, I prefer to tailor-process each image.

I hope this is of some help to you. At least by bumping up this thread - I might entice some more knowledgeable person to address you questions ;-)

It certainly does. When I click on an M8 DNG file - the Camera Raw 4.1 converter automatically opens. And it does recognize the M8, I've just checked it now. I believe it has a built in profile for the M8. So when I think I tailor process each image - what I actually do is make small adjustments to the M8 profile which is included in the programme.
