leitz_not_leica Posted October 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Please look up this series from the US public television (PBS.org). There are many tragic, but beautiful photos made during the conflict...surely, some made by Leica products. A waterfall of tears.

bscott Posted October 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted October 3, 2007 I have also been watching the series and enjoying it very much and as you say lots of good photographs. Also the series is certainly not glorifying war by any means and does an excellent job is relaying the hardships and heartbreaks. No more war! vinnie Posted October 3, 2007 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2007 Great documentary. There is also a thick book with plenty of pictures, some disturbing.
billh Posted October 3, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 3, 2007 The emotions, running from fear to haunted looks of despair and pain captured by the photographers are both memorable and a tribute to their bravery and skill. The unfathomable number of people who suffered and died (something like 60,000,000) because of the insanity of a couple of madmen is difficult to comprehend. tobey bilek Posted October 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 4, 2007 And people complain about Iraq and Afganistan. Same madmen, different year. In comparison you can plainly see the US and free world are not even trying. The other difference is we are attempting to nip this in the bud so it does not escallate as it most certainly will if left unchecked. The previous administration in the US failed to take significant action, so now it is even bigger. Not that this administration did not screw it up badly, they did. They fired all the military who told them more people were needed before the invasion even started. Now there is even a bigger mess and fewer troops for Afganistan. Are any of the war photogs carrying Leicas? I saw some British guys with those new RF from Japan and the name starts with B.
