They were extremely helpful and I managed to walk out only buying the M8 grip. I did want to look at the WATE lens, but alas, they had none in stock. Can't seem to hang on to one long enough to show it off. Anyway, while there, one of the sales people noticed that the Hoodman protective overlay I had applied to my LCD screen was peeling off from use. The M8 got quite a workout from two weeks in Germany and Poland. He offered to give me a Leica M8 overlay which I did not know existed. I wished I had asked him for a few as this one began to peel up at the corners as well after a few days. They do come in handy protecting that vulnerable screen from scratches. Hoodman's version for the Canon 5D comes close but it's slightly large. It can be cut down but it would be nice to find a supplier of a pre-cut M8 overlay. I find that if you cut them so they are just slightly smaller than the screen, they tend to stay on a long time. I've had the same ones on my Canon 5D for about 6 months and the M8 for about 3 months. It also helps to clean the LCD surface well before applying the covers. The dealer just gave me one which had no documentation with it. It did fit the M8 screen exactly and they were acrylic like the Hoodman's model you cite, which is what I use now although I have to cut them down to size. That glass screen would be ideal. AlanJW Posted October 1, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2007 The Giottos screen protector fits very well. It has a thin edge of adhesive at the edges. Of course the screen itself on the camera is not the LCD itself but a protective layer, and they are pretty tough, so I'm not sure whether these protectors are necessary. The Canon outer part f the screen can be taken off relatively easily and replaced relatively inexpensively so I don't have one on my 5D for example. I don't know whether Leica makes things as easy. They are available for differant size screens but most inportant the one for the M8 is a perfect fit ( about 0.25 mm clearance all the way round).Care has to be taken when attaching them so follow the instructions carefully.They are a heavy duty plastic.
