Went to Marrakech (for the second time in my life) last week, and this counts as my first non-home-outing (as in - non home country) with the M11.

Haven't been travelling much since getting it, feels nice to be out and about again for a bit.
Apologies if this belongs in the photo thread - there's gonna be quite a few of them so i thought it might be better to group them in a separate thread.
If this isn't kosher, let me know and i'll delete it.

I'll start off with a couple of colourful ones...

Some random field observations:

- M11 is *ideal* for Marrakech - or really any non-photo-friendly place... it blends in very easily, and lends itself well to the Winogrand-like "i'm just futzing around" shtick that i started doing even before i know it was a Winogrand shtick

- the new Nokton is brilliant, i practically never took it off the camera - my preferred length for street photography is 85mm, but 50mm works fine too i guess

- rangefinder focusing with an f/1 lens in a chaotic place like Marrakech is a no go, at least for me - i'm guessing there's Leica ubermensch people who can pull it off, but i can't - no matter, prefocusing and LV+focus peeking do the trick

- i really need to get the VF2 - not for street photography, but i've realized my eyes have aged and i can't really do critical focusing on the LCD with my glasses on anymore (i'm 41, for the record)

- i can fit 5 lenses covering 15mm to 90mm in the smallest system bag leica offers... this alone justifies the price of M11 for hard to photo / photo unfriendly places

- M11 battery life is pentiful enough even when travelling that i don't really need a second battery

- M11 auto white balance is still a mess

The VF2 also flips. M´s offer no flip screens.

Good point.
Time for an order i guess.

I would crop to get the 85mm view. Ok, it is difficult to imagine the 85mm view being on the scene.

I'm taking it as a challenge.
Sometimes it's good to change to a different focal length for a bit, see if it opens any new insights or workflows.

I think Morocco has the craziest lightbulbs and LED...

YES. It drove me nuts, both on the spot AND when looking at the files.
For what its worth, last time around i only took daytime photos.
I had a Fuji X-T2 and a Pentax K1 with me, and both were having a really hard time with low light + the nutso street lighting.
