ptomsu Posted September 26, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted September 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know that the Digilux3 currently only supports RAW (I think it is a Panasonic RAW version) - BUT Â 1) would it not be wonderful if it would support DNG instead? 2) allow to make only DNG (RAW) without accompanying JPEG? One still cannot turn off the camera build JPEG - a feature I would really prefer, because I shoot 99% RAW (DNG).
Advertisement Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hi ptomsu, Take a look here Digilux3 and DNG?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Delfi_r Posted September 26, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted September 26, 2007 Why DNG? Because it's an Adobe proposal? Â Adobe programs can work with Digilux3 RAW files, but other non Adobe programs too, that's my first reason to purchase a Digilux 3 instead a closed format RAW body. DcRaw can open it very well and I can use my photos with programs that not need to run on Windows or Mac. Â For the only Raw option, you can discard the Jpeg files easily
davebhc71 Posted September 27, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted September 27, 2007 Check out http://www.imageingester.com- Â Program works with RAW. It will ingest RAW to 1st folder AND create DNG (using Adobe DNG converter) in 2nd user defined folder. Also allows for 3rd backup folder if that's needed. John Maio Posted September 30, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted September 30, 2007 Don't forget that Capture One also handles RAW files from the DigiLux-3 and does a fine job/
cwf Posted September 30, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted September 30, 2007 C1 LE v. 3.77, as was discovered here quite promptly as I recall, did not work with the Mac version for the Digilux 3, something I personally encountered a couple of months ago. Â I have been wondering whether the new beta version solved that problem, but have not been sufficiently curious yet to try it out. (I may be waiting for the final release.) Â Anyone know whether the new beta works with Digilux 3 raw images on a Mac?

DcRaw can open it very well and I can use my photos with programs that not need to run on Windows or Mac.  For the only Raw option, you can discard the Jpeg files easily  Because all the other Leica cameras are using DNG and many Leica users find it quite good compared to proprietary RAWSs - especially the Panasonic RAW is not what I would call best of breed. jdlaing Posted October 1, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted October 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't understand what you mean by Panasonic RAW. Â I have a Digilux 3 and it uses Leica proprietary RAW. Â It also works with DNG and quite well I might add. Â I convert my Leica RAW files to DNG often. Delfi_r Posted October 1, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted October 1, 2007 I've read in another 4/3 forum, i'll quote it when I'll rediscover it, that the true difference between the Panasonic L1 and the Digilux 3 it's the RAW format. Â L1 produces a proprietary format and D3 one that's DNG aware or a pure DNG format. I don't know if it's a fixpack feature, but if it's true, you are right, all Leica high end cameras produce DNG Raw format. This not true for the D-Lux 3 at least as I see it with DcRaw.. I'm on a G5 Mac. Now if only the beta would quit crashing  Below is a sample of a Beta 4,0 conversion Welcome, dear visitor!
