J_Brittenson Posted September 26, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know if third parties can buy and install the coded lens mounts? I just bought a 3rd gen Summicron 35, and the seller stated it's a little stiff to focus, so I may send it to DAG or Sherry K for a CLA. If I could get it coded at the same time I might do that too, but it's probably not worth the effort to send it separately to NJ for coding.
Advertisement Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hi J_Brittenson, Take a look here Coding by third party. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted September 26, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2007 Why not send it to Leica for coding and CLA?
sdai Posted September 26, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2007 Leica probably won't touch your 3rd gen 35 cron, Jan ... according to their PDF they'll only do the 4th gen cron "bokeh king" (11310/11311) and ASPH (11879/11882).
J_Brittenson Posted September 26, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted September 26, 2007 Hmm, no coding then I guess. No big deal. Leica takes too long for CLA, they're not even on my list anymore...
carstenw Posted September 26, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 26, 2007 You can still code it, of course, just not as itself, since there is no entry for it. I guess the 35/2 IV would come very close. You could ask specialists like DAG if he knows if the mount comes off easily, and then send it to John Milich to make the holes in it.
sisoje Posted September 26, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 26, 2007 How about this lens? Leica Summicron M 35mm/2.0 Aspherical, Serial Number 3927***. Is it "new enough" to be coded by Leica? Thanks,
