This shot is lost here. There are loads of people who don't come to S&L because of the content of 99% of the shots and will therefore miss out on one of the best ones posted on the new forum. That's all I'm saying.

Any Sports or Leisure activity that doesn't involve wheels doesn't get a look in.

Where are the shots of people catching marlins?

Where are the shots of people playing football or rugby?

Or dancing, or playing bridge, or knitting, or painting, or doing DIY, or hang gliding, or walking the dog, or ...

Oliver Hardy voice: "Maybe I'll just have to go and take them my-self."

Andy,

Many people who are into Leicas are also into wheels it would seem. Not so many into those other things, except possibly walking the dog. We MIGHT take a snap of someone knitting, (and would post it in "Human") but you might have to go to a Leicanon forum to find hang-gliding. :) Gliders, yes, hang-gliding no.

Dean Bentley seems to post his mountain-biking stuff in "Human". Go figure! Brent and DD post the canoe/kayaking stuff either here or in "Landscape & Travel". Makes perfect sense to me...

Why not hang-gliding? And why would a shot of someone knitting be regarded as a snap, when a, ahem, "record", shot of a car is not considered to be such a level? It's still "Leisure" time is it not?

Why doesn't Dean post his excellent cycling shots here?

Maybe, because they'd just get lost..

Andy,

This shot is posted here precisely BECAUSE it will reach its intended audience. The subject is motorsports. As usual, we must agree to disagree.

Have you noticed how you tend to kill a thread with your O.T. comments? If not, suggest you begin to take notice. I'd like to read additional informed comments on Rolf's catch.

Perhaps we disagree on the subject matter of the shot, in that case, William. No problem with that.

Final word from me, since I do not consider that this has veered too far off topic, although it could go that way.

The intended audience should, IMHO, be more than just the "petrol heads", decent people though they are. This is a superb shot that deserves to have the widest audience here.

The reason I queried if it was now time for a separate forum for cars was because I could see the rising number of shots overwhelming the S&L forum. I was told rather shortly that this had been considered by the illuminati and had been dismissed.

I believe that decision was wrong, and that there should be a separate category for what is arguably the most popular subject on the forum.

Cheers,

Pete.

LOL!

Pete, you actually are suggesting that someone here is in charge!

:D

It's the internet. People post stuff. In this case it's cars. No one here has any control over that, short of deleting posts of cars--which isn't going to happen.

We've just had a huge German Classic at the 'Ring, William has returned from his annual trek to the MOG celebration, we've taken aboard some lurking members who've become active by sharing their favorite four-wheeled shots....all of which sounds to me like people doing their favorite things, documenting them with Leica products, and sharing their experiences with others.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I note that no one runs around the other fora crowing about "too many sunset shots!" or "too many cafe' shots!". Or conversely, for a "tall people" section, or a "fat people" section.

Let it be what it is: Sports and Leisure activities, interests and passionate pursuits.

Thanks.

Allan
