250swb Posted November 14, 2022 Share #61 Posted November 14, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) There are of course camera repair people who don't specialise in one make of camera and have a vast range of experience in repairing all types of camera and lenses. The one I use can just as easily service a Rolleiflex as a Leica. Just answering the 'glass half empty' tone.
Advertisement Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Hi 250swb, Take a look here M6 - Do I need a CLA? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

I once sent a lens that was not been used for quite a while, and got returned as it was because he inspected and said all was good, no need for CLA. Yeah, Leica will likely find something to charge for it Should you still have it checked, for your OWN peace of mind? sure Using Leica services for this? I would not...but I would not use your local guy either You have made a good point when you say "Should you still have it checked, for your OWN peace of mind? sure". The key word is Checked, too many people on this forum seem to think that a CLA answers all your problems, it doesn't. It comes down to the old adage "If it ain't broke don't fix it" as Dan illustrated with your lens.

There is no mystical art here, just the competence and understanding of the tech. In the US none of the big name Leica experts could fix the light leak in my Leica M5. I sent it to Zacks Camera Repair - he fixed it, and was much cheaper too! edit and Leica USA would not touch it, saying they don't service the M5!
