quietglow Posted October 10, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can't find an answer to this, so checking with y'all: At some point Leica reduced the coverage of the framelines, so that the 35 lines were closer to 40mm etc. I know this was done for the M4-P and the M6, but I can't determine if M4-2s were also similarly changed. I have a 40mm summicron with modified cam that I adore and I'm hunting for a body for it. I used it for years on an M4-P, and it was perfect. I never was a fan of the M4-P's red grip dot, so would rather an M4-2 this time around.
Advertisement Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 Hi quietglow, Take a look here M4-2 vs M4-P: when did they change the frameline coverage?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Pyrogallol Posted October 11, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 11, 2022 (edited) Looking through my 1977-78 M4-2 and 1981 M4-P the 35mm framelines appears to cover the same view in both cameras, both wider than the 40mm frame of my CL film camera, that the 40mm Summicron was made for. Guest Posted October 11, 2022 Share #3 Posted October 11, 2022 (edited) @quietglow why not see if one of your local camera stores has a M4-2 in stock and physically try it out. A suggestion, make an appointment here http://www.tamarkin.com. They’re based in Chicago. They also have an M4-2 in stock. No affiliation with them, by the way. Thanks! That's the info I need. 7 hours ago, OThomas said: A suggestion, make an appointment here http://www.tamarkin.com. They’re based in Chicago. They're my dealer alright! I have to be careful about going into the store. There are few places on earth with more irresistible temptation.
