Advertisement Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Hi fmil, Take a look here M8 Hong Kong Trip. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted September 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 19, 2007 The warranty will be considerably less useful. You may consider a used camera if you like playing it risky like that.
sdai Posted September 19, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 19, 2007 Cheapest place to buy a brand new M8 is in Japan ... current price translates into about 4300 US dollars. I haven't checked the price in Hong Kong lately but it was 39800 HKD and shouldn't change ... 5100 US dollars.

ArtZ Posted September 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 20, 2007 Any suggestions of where to shop? I don't know if they have M8s at the airport, but I always found prices at HK airport are very good (not like in Dubai -Fly, Buy, Dubai! which are just a hold up). Usually at airports you get International Warranty. .
Kent10D Posted September 20, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 20, 2007 Cheapest place to buy a brand new M8 is in Japan ... current price translates into about 4300 US dollars. Actually it's more like about US$4,800 at the moment, and that's with the "standard" discount. But you have a whole nine days to get it at that price. As of October 1 it will be more like US$6,000, officially. Nasty.

therightagent Posted September 20, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 20, 2007 The prices in HK is about the same in the state. The only difference is the sale tax which each state charges. There is the warranty issue if something goes wrong. It has the international passport warranty card. But I do not know if you will get road block when getting repair in US. MP3 Posted September 21, 2007 Share #9 Posted September 21, 2007 M8 price here has once dived to USD 4,350.- (no sales tax here in HK). Retailers have however already raise the price back to USD 4,800.- lately after leica's announcement of their price hike. Considering M8's various electronic component, I would definitely suggest you buy at your home country. People have bought M8 from Tokyo, when it need repair or service, the official leica service center would need to the owner to provide a Japanese passport. Otherwise, they would tell you to ship to Solms on your own.
