elansprint72 Posted August 16, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Another D2 shot, my technique is: Get very close to the action Turn off all electro-gizmos, i.e. manual everything, including focus Know exactly when your shutter will fire, to practice this with a new camera, shoot the traffic on the main road! Thanks for looking, Pete.

andybarton Posted August 16, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2006 Much like using a proper camera then... This one is one of your best, Pete.
stuny Posted August 16, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 16, 2006 Pete - Superb color, focus, framing and subject. Blurred bacground and wheel add to the sense of action, as does the driver's position. I suspect that all the electronic gizmos in the Bug (traction control, anti-yaw, ALB, etc) are turned off, too. Did you prefocus and then fine tune as the Bug came into frame? elansprint72 Posted August 16, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted August 16, 2006 Andy, Yes, I just pretend that it's a Rolleiflex............ Stu, I pre-focus on a spot on the road and figure out how much DoF I have to play with, if the car runs wide, I either do not take the shot, or produce a clunker. If the car comes closer, I am very afraid! Pete.
andybarton Posted August 16, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 16, 2006 I thought that these cars were pretty crude - I didn't realise that they had ABS and traction control and stuff like that.
elansprint72 Posted August 16, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted August 16, 2006 Andy, If you paid a million pounds wouldn't you expect all that stuff? Actually you can buy an exact replica built in Argentina for "only" 110,000GBP; unfortunately the rule-makers are now allowing these to race with the "real" ones, which, I predict, will mean that in a couple of years none of the real ones will be on the track. Would you risk and unreplacable oldie against some new-money nutter in a replica? thanks, Pete.
