elansprint72 Posted September 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) First shot shows part of the Chapel, with original decoration; this had been covered up during the Reformation of the 16th century but is now all exposed- best example I've ever seen. Second shot shows the minstrels' gallery in the Great Hall, in which hangs a tapestry gifted by Henry VIII. Looks like Laurence Olivier is about to walk on(!). Third shows part of the Long Gallery; Elizabethan ladies took their exercise indoors during Winter and inclement weather, this shot does not show the full length of the gallery. Final shot shows detail of one of the ceilings, with Tudor rose- apologies some camera shake is evident. This place is on my list to re-visit; not often that one can photograph freely inside a house like this. There are a great many pieces of furniture and original artifacts, next time I'll go back mid-week (and alone!).

stuny Posted September 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2007 Pete - It's clear Barbara and I need to visit there. Lovely series. BTW: One of the Louis (14th?) used to race on horseback with his sons in the long galleries of what is now the Louvre
