I emailed Leica Germany explaining specifically that I had no confidence in Leica NJ and wanted to send my equipment directly to Germany for repair. They not only did not reply to my email, but forwarded it instead to Leica USA in NJ.

So then I emailed a specific person in Wetzler whose email address I had from prior repair problems. Again, explained that I did NOT want to work with NJ but with Germany. Again, no reply to me and again she forwarded my email to Leica USA in NJ.

For me this is a real reason to pause before purchasing more Leica gear. If I need warranty service in the US I will have no other option.

Consider using a reputable Leica dealer as an intermediary.  Leica Miami, for instance, sends gear to Germany for repair, not NJ. Or, consider reputable third party repair such as DAG (as evidence of his capabilities and trustworthiness, Leica Miami also uses his services).
