Can you give a bit more info about how you will use it and what it would carry other than the Q2? Other photographic gear? Coat? Water? And would you use it for getting around in urban areas or for travelling in a car or on a bike? Or would you want it for hiking for miles or camping?

What do you mean by 'safe'? Protecting the Q2 with internal padding? Or lockable to prevent theft?

Thanks for your messages.

The backpack is for street photography or just walking and cycling. I mean with safe that it has to be with internal padding. Strong and water resistent if possible.

Use any backpack that you would use normally for the activity. If you want padding add it in, there are enough contenders for that, or make your own.

Lowepro does a wide range of padded backpacks. Mine is no longer sold but it is about the size of the Tahoe BP 150, but with external straps (good for tripods and lighting stands). Tough (no failures on mine after a decade of rough use), lots of pockets, well-designed and easy to adjust storage. It's not designed for ergonomic comfort for long distance walking, but fine for walking about town with and getting from car to destination. Good value too.

I have a larger f-Stop Loka for hiking with large format.

Looks interesting. Thank you for this

I recently bought the Peak Design 15L backpack for Leica street photography (Q2M and M10R with a couple lenses.) For just the Q2 I'd look at the Peak Design slings, either the smallest or second smallest depending on what else you're interested in.  In general Peak Design makes great products.

I have the medium version of this, although chiefly due to carrying my 14" laptop too. This is the small version which may work for you:

I am impressed with the build quality and the backloading, slightly safer on the move.

Using a “thinktank” “mirrorless mover 10”. It’s just big enough, lightly but helpfully padded, external pocket for extra battery, etc. It’s very easily portable with with a handle and shoulder strap. Wouldn’t use it for rugged protection, but seems ideal for everyday use.

Hi Leica users

I am looking for a very small backpack for my Q2. It has to be solid and safe.Have any body a good suggestion which one will be okay for me?

Thank you

I am searching for the same thing. I want something relatively smaller, less bulky, don't look like a camera bag, low profile and have a little of causal or city feel. I will use it to carry a Q2 with or without handgrip, an extra battery, a rocket blower. I also want it to have space to accommodate an M10R with a 35mm Cron and/or 50 lux ( with our without grip). This will be my urban EDC camera bag...

I found the following candidates:

1. ONA Monterey backpack https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1494952-REG/ona_ona5_082grlbr_monterey_backpack_smoke_and.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A6879&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjbyYBhCdARIsAArC6LIZQlNrZ8mOMK2Jsdy-THrUToZWs4Ds0l_-I5YytPuM8fh4PrvPBiwaAgbGEALw_wcB

- Unique look, timeless design, surprisingly good space in the protected compartment which fits perfectly for Leica Q or M systems with multiple lenses but stays compact in overall size.

2. ONA Clifton backpack https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1237030-REG/ona_ona046lbr_the_leather_clifton_camera.html

-High quality super low profile backpack with 2 removable inserts that are customized to fill the inner space perfectly. Doesn't look like a camera bag at all.

3. WANDRD PRVKE Lite 11L backpack https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1692088-REG/wandrd_pklt_ta_3_prvke_lite_tan.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A6879&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjbyYBhCdARIsAArC6LJVyIb9_hz40M4l-QVCBHuRksEnwaUzmsgRliseaGPkUzrzOwMIRpgaAoQIEALw_wcB

- Young and energetic. Tote bag/ backpack 2-in-1, Award winning design, perfect for urban and city.

4. Oberwerth Backpack FELDBERG https://us.oberwerth.com/products/fotorucksack-feldberg

- A high quality classy small leather backpack with a touch of casualness. Camera compartment is a removable insert that fill the inner space of the backpack. Perfect fit for small Lecia systems.

5, Oberwert Q backpack https://us.oberwerth.com/products/q-backpack-schwarz

-This is a perfect bag for people who look for an upscale low profile leather backpack for their Leica and want a more space for other stuff.

My top choices are: ( in the order preference)

1. Oberwerth Q, ( Major drawback- very expensive and it is the bulkiest of the three choices here)

2. ONA Monterey, ( Main complaint: very tight ( and useless) side pockets and very limited space for personal items and laptop)

3. WANDRD PRKVE lite ( A little too young looking and not a huge fan of the folding top, not as classy of course)

Hallo,

as a Q2 owner I can suggest the “Everyday Sling” Peak Design model.

This is the link.

https://www.peakdesign.com/products/everyday-sling/?variant=31374269251661

I find the size of 6L ideal.

The size of the bag allows you to use half of it for Q2 and the other half for everything you want to carry with you.

Also inside, you have a pocket that allows you to carry even an I-Pad. Under the bag, there is the possibility to carry the tripod.

The bag in addition to being waterproof and protective also has the possibility to block the zippers as a safety measure.

I would highly recommend it to you.

I don't work for Peak Design 🙂 but I have several products because I find, personal opinion, that they manage

to combine a great design with a great attention to detail combined with high-level materials.

I hope this could help you!

Best regards and have a nice day,

Gino

If you are just carrying the Q2, I would just buy a pouch or wrap for it, and then search for more dedicated cycling backpacks (if there are such a thing). A camera backpack is typically going to have more padding and bulk than you would want while you are doing anything athletic. For general use I have been very happy with a Patagonia Refugio 28L that I bought about 10 years ago. But the design has changed, so I cannot say if it is still good. It is also bigger than I might want for biking, but I use it for light hiking at times, or just for general purposes. It has served me very well in that way. This is the version I have. https://www.evo.com/outlet/backpacks/patagonia-refugio-28l-backpack

But again, I would definitely recommend getting a more purpose built cycling backpack and just getting a padded case or wrap for the Q2 alone.

Not a fan of camera specific backpacks, they're invariably over-engineered and too bulky & heavy for just walking around except when I'm carrying Hasselblad and Fuji mf cameras and lenses in the hills when I use a Mind Shift Backlight Elite 45ltr.

For carrying just a Q2, if I wanted to take a backpack I'd use something like a Tenba Buy Your Own Bag insert or a neoprene camera wrap in a lightweight day sack (I use a 12ltr  innov8 fell running sac for day walks) or sling as already mentioned.

Also a fan of the Peak Design Everyday Sling. I have two: the 6l and 10l. The former is my day bag, with room for one camera, the latter when I want to take two cameras or more stuff.

There is also a 3 liter. I think that will be the best choice. Tomorrow I go tot the shop so i can check what will be the best one.
