Hope this post is acceptable. Like many of us I am in a constant state of GAS, and often filtering different lenses in and out of my collection. I absolutely despise eBay and have her to find a great place to sell things other than on there. Any recommendations? Have used Facebook from time to time but also not ideal!

On the west coast Samy's Camera in LA & Camera West in Rancho Mirage, CA have given me decent prices for Leica gear I've sold to them.  I also despise eBay, and when you figure that they take 13.5% of your sale it's worked out to be about the same selling to these shops.  Plus on eBay there is always the chance of getting the PITA buyer.

I've been happy with dealing with these shops and it's a lot less stressful.  You can also check KEH & MPB but I've found they don't pay as well as the places I've mentioned.  The process takes about two weeks from the time you send it in until you get paid.  One thing to note -- neither of these places had tried to undercut their original quote, something KEH & MPB do most of the time.

I have been here and posting regularly for two years and didn’t know until now there’s a classified section. Anyway it is well hidden. I have sold some accessories at FredMiranda and that site is very busy with tons of traffic. Seems people go there for that reason. There’s a small fee to post an advert. I personally don’t like to sell online but the quotes I got recently for my SL2 from the usual online dealers were laughable.

Leica Miami will return 80% on trades (70% on outright sale), and their appraisals will be on the high side for desirable items in great condition with all boxes, papers and accessories.  Popflash Photo used to return 80% for consignment sales (even 85% at one time), but have recently reduced that to 75%. Their market values are competitive and open to seller input. I prefer using these and other similar quality dealers rather than going through the hassle of private sale or the Bay.  Dealers can also generally justify higher prices due to warranty and return policies.
