Use Adobe Bridge, go to the icon for downloading along the top and in the pop up box select the drive you want to download that is plugged into your PC or other recognised device.  It's wise to make a folder to put the photos in and give it a unique folder number and description.

Yes. I plug the SD card into an OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock (connected to an iMac). In LR I click on the file containing the images (in this example the file is called 100LEICA). Then click on the Import button (assuming you want all the images). Voila.
